Kool KATTS Therapists in Schools

Kool KATTS works closely with schools and preschools in Parramatta and the surrounding areas, including offering courses to facilitate development and knowledge sharing. Access to therapy within the learning environment is critical in ensuring children who cannot attend face-to-face sessions at our clinic, or online are able to receive much needed services. This also allows us to work closely and collaboratively with your child’s school, ensuring success in this environment. We endeavour to build collaboration and communication with your child’s teachers and educators to ensure the best possible care for your child.

We offer the following services:

  •  Individual Therapy
  • Observational Visits
  • Preschool and Kindergarten Screeners
  • Educational Workshops for teachers and educators
  • University Student projects
  • Group Based Therapy
  • Participation in learning support meetings

Individual Therapy

Kool KATTS offers in school therapy for children around the Parramatta area. Please check with your child’s school to see if they allow therapists to provide therapy at school. We’ll do our best to arrange a day/time that suits their individual learning.

Observational Consultation Visits

If you child is struggling at school, preschool or daycare, Kool KATTS can provide a one-off Observational Consultation visits. These visits are designed to for our clinicians to observe your child in their natural environment and discuss with your child’s teacher/educator to determine how best to support your child. We may recommend environmental accomodation, equipment accomodations such as alternate seating or sensory tools, whole class accomodations such as songs or movement breaks to regulate the whole class.

Occupational Therapy screeners

The purpose of the preschool/kindy screening is to assess the developmental level of a child’s or children’s abilities and also to identify any possible difficulties which may require additional attention to better support them to keep up with their peers. They will screen for:

  • Fine Motor skills
  • Gross Motor skills
  • Visual and Sensory Perception skills

Speech Pathology screener

A screener only takes around 30 minutes and aims to identify whether your child’s communication development is on track or if they need additional support in some areas. During the screener, your child will complete a few different activities to demonstrate their skills in the identified concern areas. This may include:

  • Comprehension
  • Vocabulary and Grammar
  • Narrative (story telling)
  • Phonological awareness
  • Speech
  • Stuttering and voice quality

Group Based Therapy

Our Kool KATTS clinicians run group based therapy in a number of schools in the area. We run motor based programs, social groups and handwriting groups. Let us know if your child’s school would be interested in hosting a Kool KATTS group
