Online Sessions

Kool KATTS is here to help your children continue achieving their therapy goals when face-to-face sessions are not possible. Remote therapy, or telehealth/telepractice, has been used effectively for decades to facilitate working with kids in rural and remote areas.

At a time when social distancing is needed, digital therapeutic services are available to all our clients at Kool KATTS. They are designed to empower both parents and caregivers to deliver therapy in the home setting, with remote support offered by our occupational therapists.

We’re confident that along with the convenience and social distancing online OT sessions offer, you’ll achieve encouraging progress, with all the support you need. Research has shown that parents using telepractice have greater confidence in performing therapeutic activities, and children display more significant gains in skills, compared to clinic-based sessions.

We offer our regular services through telepractice, including assessments, interventions, consultations and ongoing education.

How does it work?

You will need a good internet connection and speed, a tablet, a laptop or computer with audio and video technology. Our occupational therapists use web-based video conferencing services including Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

We suggest you work in a quiet space where your child will be able to concentrate without distractions. A comfortable and supportive chair will also help them retain their focus. Younger children, and those requiring support due to delayed language development, receive therapy via videoconferencing, with a parent or caregiver being guided by the OT. With the therapist coaching and supporting the process, the families we work with report that the process helps them learn new strategies that help in other day-to-day interactions with their kids.

Telehealth is available to all NDIS participants, Private Health Insurance rebates (from 14 April 2020), and private paying clients who are accessing Medicare rebates through a Chronic Disease Management Plan.
