Early Intervention
Acting early on developmental concerns to make a real difference for your child and you!
What is Early Intervention?
This is the term generally used to describe services and support that help babies and toddlers (from birth to 3 years of age in most states/territories) with developmental delays or disabilities and their families.
However, NDIS refers to Early Intervention as children that are 8 years of age and under. Intervention includes occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, and other types of services based on the needs of the child and family. Early Intervention can have a significant impact on a child’s ability to learn new skills and increase their success in school and life.
Why Early Intervention is Important
Intervention is likely to be more effective when it is provided earlier in life rather than later. The connections in a baby and toddler’s brain are most adaptable in the first five years of life. These connections, also called neural circuits, are the foundation for learning, behavior, and health.
Over time, these connections become harder to change. The early childhood years are just as important for children with disabilities and developmental delays as they are for all children. All their future development is based on the critical learning patterns laid down during this period.
Intervention works! Early intervention services can change a child’s developmental path and improve outcomes for children, families, and communities.

Our role is to empower parents to learn the skills and techniques we use so that parents are able to provide play as therapy to their children every day, not just the hour they spend with us.
Our clinicians are knowledgeable and respectful of diversity and are flexible to accommodate every families individual culture and characteristics.
Inclusion
Being relationship based clincians, we support each child’s need and want to be included in their family and community. We support their social and emotional well being through relationship with their family, friends, school/class mates and wider community. We support children in their natural environments through;
1. Teaching skills to parents
2. Observational visits of a child in their daycare/school and education/discussions with teachers on how best to support in this environment
3. Regular preschool or daycare visits to support the child’s engagement in early childhood and strengthen their sense of belonging in this environment.
